The Cobb wall in Lyme Regis shelters the harbour. It’s a veritable patchwork of rock, stone, cement and tarmac that’s developed over the years. I took some photos the other day for another project, and here is an offshoot!

Soft limestone slabs, scratched and scarred by many years of passing traffic, just outside the Lifeboat Station.

Stone slabs worn smooth by many feet on the low wall of the Cobb, patched with more modern repairs of rough cement.

Dressed stone block on top of the Cobb wall, with peck marks and a keyhole to allow a chain to be fixed, during quarrying or construction.

While this cement patch was soft, a person and a dog left their trace behind, perhaps for many years into the future?

All over the top of the wall, cement repairs have been inscribed with names and dates. Are Jon and Nicola still together?
