On a perfect summer morning, the sea is like blue rippled silk. I'm pleased to spot a row of towels awaiting their swimmers to return and claim them.
Petrichor
After about 5 weeks of hot sunshine and dry weather, I woke up to the sound of gentle rain pattering on the roof. Imagine my delight at opening the back door and smelling that wonderful scent of wet earth. A short-lived interlude as the rain didn't last more than a few hours; just enough to wet the surface.
Billowing
Stripping the bed on a hot sunny day; washing and drying it and remaking the bed with the wonderful smell of fresh air and feel of clean cotton to send one off to sleep. Bliss.
Lesser bindweed in the verge
Convolvulus arvensis - a climbing arable weed with almond-scented pleated bells, usually striped in soft pink. It always reminds me of my childhood ramblings through the fields.
