Small is beautiful

I spent a couple of hours wandering on the beach with a friend, much needed downtime to clear my head and lift my spirits on a sunny winter afternoon. A lot of my beach snaps are big landscapes and seascapes, but sometimes it’s nice to look down and see the small picture. Taking time to really look is good for the mind, and all sorts of little details spring into view, and all sorts of animal and bird behaviours are there for the learning. Strutting crows looking for periwinkles, wheeling gulls, wind-up toy turnstones foraging for hoppers in the seaweed, periwinkles lumbering in the rockpools, tiny scuttling hermit crabs and darting glass-clear shrimps.
