Head in the clouds

The sky’s been very much in my thoughts recently – life on the ground has been quite trying so looking heavenwards has been a welcome distraction.

This particular set of images has two very contrasting elements. The urban sky above the Barbican in central London on the 20th was stunning – I can’t decide if this is cirrocumulus or altocumulus, but whichever, it was bewitching, sailing serenely above the buildings. The cumulus was just outside my back door in the country, and I spent a happy hour or two watching the turrets boil up against the blue sky against their cirrus hats, and the grey cloudlets form and evaporate in the energetic atmosphere.
