Sometimes, even the dullest evening can result in an interesting image. Twilight allowed a long exposure, giving an unexpected silkiness and transparency to the water of a breaking wave on the town beach at Lyme Regis.
I was lucky to get away with this handheld, at 6/10th of a second. Shots like this cannot really be planned accurately, and the result is serendipity – this was the best of several attempts.
(The beach was remodelled a few years after this was taken with millions of tonnes of imported shingle, so you can no longer look over the drop at the water. Another one for the history books.)
