I’ve long been fascinated by farmers’ fields, both as objects of man-made beauty, and photographic subjects. There are lots of arable and pasture fields near my house, and they have proved a source of great inspiration to me – whether newly ploughed in autumn, frosted in winter, full of sighing ripe corn, or shaved stubble. Here are just a few of the photos I have taken over the years – most of which are what I term natural abstracts: small-scale studies of light, shade and colour, rather than sweeping landscapes. (Quite a few were captured with an old 5MP camera, so the quality is a bit mushy, but I still like them!)
