All in the details

Today there was an amazing cloud formation in the sky that drew much attention, but I was equally entranced by patterns on the beach – my first venture on the sand for some days. I enjoy the landscape at large, but also like to find little details to make small-scale compositions – intimate landscapes if you will. I admired the random disposition of seaweed on the tideline, the whispery marks of retreating wave edges, and most of all, the dusky veils of organic material on the sand, in ripples and runnels.

And in case you were wondering, this was the sky just after sunrise … as fine as a Shetland lace shawl.
