A walk in the woods

We’ve been lucky enough to have a long dry and warm spell this autumn, so it was hard to resist the call of the local forest today. Charmouth Forest on the borders of East Devon and West Dorset is a mix of broadleaf woodland and coniferous forestry, and on the afternoon I went was a glorious feast for the senses: the sight of the colourful trees, the rustle of scuffing feet in drifts of leaves, the warm spicy scent of decay, and the feeling of warm sun and cooler shadows on my face.

Here are just a few little jewels to remind me of a most enjoyable ramble.
