Storm tide at Lyme Regis, 28th October 2004

Much excitement at Lyme Regis - last night and this morning, spring tides and a deep depression, combined with strong winds, caused a tide some 1m higher than usually expected. Here are some quick snaps of the waves, and also of the debris washed up. I managed to get soaked by a sudden wave during the course of my visit - fortunately it missed the camera.

A single huge wave lifted a large log onto the Cobb wall while we were watching...

... and a few minutes later, another washed right over the end of the wall and pushed these concrete benches away from the wall.
